Wintry weather is once again headed our way, and the forecast for the weekend and into Monday is complicated. Here’s a synopsis of the current thinking from the National Weather Service, as shared on our most recent statewide emergency management weather call.
Saturday: Snow is expected to start on Saturday morning and then change to freezing rain/sleet Saturday afternoon.
Sunday: Sleet/freezing rain early Sunday morning. Total snow accumulation of several inches and 0.25” of ice accumulation or more are likely by the time precipitation stops. Winds are forecast to gust between 30-40 mph on Sunday afternoon and evening, and the temperatures will drop quickly to a low in the single digits on Sunday night. Wind chills are expected to be below zero by Monday morning.
We've included the current official National Weather Service forecast and some related graphics below for your reference. Please keep in mind that a slight change in the track of the storm can cause a significant change in the type of precipitation we receive. It’s possible that we could receive all snow, all rain, or some other combination of the two.
